October 9, 2001:
Fire Prevention presentation at Alexander Central School

Several volunteer firefighters participated in the annual fire prevention program at Alexander Central. Along with Safety tips in the home, the children take a tour of the fire trucks and equipment. As in past years, every kindergarten student receives a free smoke detector for the home.




September 20-22, 2001:
Alexander Fire Department assists in rescue efforts at World Trade Center

The Alexander Fire Department, along with several other volunteer and municipal EMS agencies in Genesee County, New York were deployed to Ground Zero, the site of the World Trade Center Terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001. Duties included assisting NYC fire personnel at the scene, transporting injured rescuers and responding to regular emergency calls in lower Manhattan.


November 11, 2000:
Mutual Aid Fire to Attica at the
Attica Package Company at 68 Jackson Street, Attica, NY

More than 200 Fire Fighters from 28 departments were involved including fighters from Wyoming, Genessee, and Erie Counties.





Sept 11, 2000:
New ambulance is placed in service.

The Alexander Volunteer Fire Department's newest emergency vehicle is a 2000 Braun Express Ambulance. Built on a Ford E350 chassis, it's New York State Certified and staffed by several volunteer EMT's.



May 23, 1999:
Alexander Fire Department hosts open house

We commissioned our new truck, a 1998 Spartan 6-man cab, manufactured by RD Murray.  It has a Cummins diesel, 320 HP engine, 1250 gpm Hale mid-ship pump, Foam Pro 2001 foam system, 12k generator, winch, and a Wilburt light tower.

  This truck also carries 800 ft of LDH, 3 cross lays, and 1000 ft of forester hose.  A full rescue body with pull out tool boards.  This truck was designed to replace 3 older trucks:  the first one being a 1973 Ford C-900 Young with a 50 foot tele-squirt and a 1000 gpm 2 stage Hale pump;  the second truck being a 1980 Ford C-8000 Young with a 1000-gallon tank and a 1000 gpm pump;  and the third truck being a 1976 Ford F-250 grass truck.

Our other trucks include: 
Our tanker, Number 8:  a 1995 Freightliner chassis with an S & S 3000-gallon tank.  It has an N-14 Cummins 400 HP engine, 750 mid-ship pump, 2-10" round side dumps, and a 12" square rear dump which can be operated from the back of the truck or from the inside of the cab. 

Number 6 is a Ford C-9000 Pierce Body with a 3208 Cat, 210 HP engine, a 1000 gpm pump, 750-gallon tank, 1000 ft of LDH, and 3 cross lays. 

Our ambulance is our busiest truck that we run.  It is a 2000 Ford E-350 Braun Express; NYS Certified ILS with a Physio Life 300 defib unit.
